Tintara Classics
Tintara has an incredible lineage with the classic grape varieties of Grenache & Shiraz, stretching back to 1862 when the first plantings were made at the original Tintara vineyard in McLaren Vale.It is for this reason that the Tintara Classics range includes these two varieties.
The Tintara Grenache was crafted from grapes grown in an 87 year old bush vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale. The wine was handcrafted using traditional open fermenters and the time honoured basket press to gently extract the best colour and flavour, with soft fine tannins. This richly textured wine is aged in 4-5 year old barriques for 12 months to allow the subtle integration of oak, while preserving true varietal characters. An alluring wine, with elegant aromas of plum, mulberry, and undertones of white pepper and spice. Up front cherries and raspberries are seamlessly integrated into a full palate, balanced by savoury, long tannins and a clean, bright finish. Upon release the wine shows amazing texture and depth, and will develop further complexity with 5-8 years cellaring.
Inky black with purple hues, the Tintara Shiraz shows a complex aroma of roasted whole spices and fresh blueberry with restrained spicy oak. This richly textured, elegant wine is full bodied, and shows ripe concentrated fruit flavours of summer fruit pudding and plum skins, along with bitumen and aniseed. A flowing textural palate shows super fine tannins which lead to a long, savoury finish. The wine will gain further complexity with careful cellaring between 5 and 15 years.
